Englewood, Colo. – April 15, 2008 – MX Logic, Inc. today introduced MX Perimeter DefenseSM, a new entry-level managed security service package for enterprises that still rely primarily on hardware and software to filter and protect email.  The new package – which is part of the award-winning MX Logic® Email Defense Service – reduces bandwidth and email traffic load placed on hardware and software solutions by eliminating more than 60 percent of spam and viruses outside the network perimeter.

Spam levels continue to rise, accounting for as much as 85 percent of all email traffic according to the MX Logic Threat Operation Center, which filters and monitors more than a billion email messages each day.  This high volume of malicious email places a significant burden on hardware and software security solutions, which have finite bandwidth. By eliminating the spam before it reaches the network, the service helps increase the performance and prolong the life of on-premises solutions. Reducing the burden on the hardware and software also helps lower ongoing management, maintenance and energy costs.  MX Perimeter Defense compares all inbound messages against an extensive database of known spammer IP addresses maintained and monitored 24x7 by the MX Logic Threat Operation Center.  In addition, it filters against worms and other viruses using the proprietary MX Logic WormTraq® virus engine, which intercepts zero-hour mass mailing worms and viruses.  Directory Harvest Attacks (DHAs), Denial of Service (DoS) attacks and attachment “.zip bombs” are also filtered and eliminated.

After subscribing to the service, users simply redirect their mail exchange (MX) record to MX Logic, and the service begins filtering all inbound messages.
