HARRISBURG, PA, April 7, 2008 - D&H Distributing, the major North American computer products and consumer electronics distributor, announces the debut of a new, streaming media training program, “D&H TV.” D&H TV is a solutions-based, multi-vendor educational offering that resellers and integrators can view online, anytime.
These streaming media training videos will be presented by D&H’s category and solutions experts, who will teach customers the best strategies for marketing, building and installing turn-key solutions in crucial vertical markets. D&H Vice President of Purchasing Michael Schwab, who will take on the role of co-president as of May 1, will provide an introduction to each of the D&H TV presentations (as the “D&H Technology Guy”) and in some cases will deliver the presentations as well. The earliest video presentations scheduled for D&H TV are:
- “Microsoft OVS – It’s All About the Price”
- “HP Total Solutions”
- “Server Basics: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and Intel Integrated Servers”
- Future D&H TV videos will focus on the Cisco Small Business Communications System, Microsoft Response Point Phone System Software, Intel Modular Server and Microsoft Small Business
- Specialist Community and more. The D&H TV videos will be available to view on the company’s website, http://www.dandh.com, starting in April.
D&H TV is part of the distributor’s larger training effort, which includes a series of brand new seminars, with fresh presentations to be mounted both separately and in tandem at each of D&H’s four 2008 trade shows. The first of these was during D&H’s West Coast Technology Show, which included joint and individual presentations from industry leaders such as Microsoft, Cisco, Intel, Linksys and Axis. Topics will range from the new Windows 2008 Server, to voice for small business, to software licensing, NAS, and network video.
In addition, D&H offered a special “Server TST” (Technical Service Training) event on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel and Convention Center, Camp Hill, PA. This stand-alone, day-long workshop seminar, presented by experts from Intel and Microsoft, gave resellers a hands-on opportunity to build an Intel Server system complete with key server-centric technologies — and the participants took home the systems they built.
Other educational sessions at D&H’s trade show events throughout 2008 will continue to highlight up-to-the moment trends and innovative SMB technologies from industry pioneers.
“Our ability to deliver educational content to our customers has been one of the most well-received parts of D&H’s value-add, so we’ve been steadily growing those offerings ever since our first seminar at our New England Technology Show back in 1998. Larger partners, more in-depth content and more cutting-edge technologies have been folded into the schedule as the years have gone on,” said Dan Schwab, D&H’s vice president of marketing. “D&H TV grew out of that momentum, using the popularity of the streaming media format to provide turn-key, cross-vendor content.”
D&H’s previous online training series, the “V-Train” program, consisted of presentations from individual vendors. Although these were informative sessions, they featured a single product or manufacturer line at a time. D&H TV takes the concept to the next level, providing more overreaching and practical strategies that address full-scale solutions for different markets, including a list of vendors and products. The goal is to teach resellers how to create and sell the best possible solution, not just a segment of a solution.
“We realized that our combined expertise at D&H was more than what could be offered by a single manufacturer. As a distributor, we’re in a unique position of knowing how to employ different products as an integrated solution in the real world,” Schwab continued. “We can offer broad-based, strategic training that not many other sources can deliver. It’s a much more effective way to educate VARs, since it’s closer to how they’ll be selling the products in the field.”
